I want to thank Pooja, at Lifesfinewhine for tagging me in this post! This is a great post in that it helps us think of things that make us happy or calm. We all need some positivity with the covid scare happening. I hope everyone enjoys this post and feels inspired to join in the fun by commenting and maybe even posting this on their blog, – with their answers respectively 🙂
Rules: The rules are very simple. You just write about ten feelings and invite others to join if you like. As Pooja mentioned on her site, there is no pressure to join if you do not want to. 🙂
Singing to my favorite song:
I love listening to music, all kinds of music. Lately, I’ve been really vibing on Billie Eilish, Halsey, Muse, Imogen Heap and Florence and the Machine. These artists really reached me when I felt at odds. It’ll sound crazy but they helped me survive college and many other stressful but well worth it events, including ADULTING ! Billie Eilish, Halsey, and Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine discuss issues with mental health, anxiety, depression, bipolar, etc. When I looked into them more, I really valued their music and personal talents even more because they’re unapologetically themselves. Mental health has disrupted lives of many, including myself and friends on here. The fact that these artists are open and promote being open about mental health is a step in the right direction. I also feel great when singing along to their music. Singing to certain songs just frees the soul. You music lovers will get me. 😉
Writing and Connecting with Others:
Writing is one of my best outlets and really puts me in a calm mood. It can be difficult for me to talk about certain things as well as connecting with others. Writing really has become a Godsend for me in this respect. I have met many other writers through this outlet and made very good friends with them. Writing is also something that motivates me to keep improving my craft and never give up, no matter the obstacle. Even Covid 19 didn’t stop me from writing!
Walking in the Woods:
Walking in the woods has forever felt like a magical experience to me. As a child, I would run in my gram’s woods, getting lost for hours with my cousins swinging on vines and climbing trees. We would swear the movements in the bushes were creatures we’d invent in our heads. I go to as many woodsy areas as I could most of my free time. All those feelings come resurfacing, and memories that make me smile and cry usually tag along. 🙂
Playing Board Games with Loved Ones:
I grew up playing board games with family and friends. Luckily, my fiance also enjoys these kind of acitivities. I enjoy being challenged so I tend to lean more towards games like Scrabble, Boggle and card games like Rummy. I genuinely enjoy having to think and problem solve. There’s no better feeling than when you’ve finally won a game you’ve been working on getting better at. I love how these games get our families to do activities together and laugh together. After a long day, unwinding by playing games with loved ones is a great go to for me.
Napping During the Early Afternoon:
I usually don’t get to nap during the afternoon due to work. Since the lockdown, I have been napping more. Napping makes me feel very refreshed and relaxed. I love my bed, nothing else needed to be said :p.
Eating Icecream During Winter:
I know this is a little strange but I absolutely love eating sundaes during the winter. I love sundaes during the summer too but they’re especially delicious during the winter as they don’t melt as quickly and I can really take my time savoring the flavors. To anyone who doesn’t know already, I love icecream. I am eating healthy majority of the time, so I never deny myself icecream. It’s a great treat, especially after work, looking out the window watching snow fall.
I have only been to the ocean around 5 times in my life. The first time I went as was old enough to remember/ enjoy it was my senior year in high school. I went with one of my best friends to New Jersey during the winter break. When we walked on the boardwalk and reached the ocean, I pulled my jacket closer to me and took in the view. The wind was cold but the ocean was vast and hungry, the tide quickly wetting my feet. That was cold! It was worth it though. I watched the water and I cried. My friend was in shock at my emotional response. She went to the ocean many times a year and couldn’t believe my wonder about the ocean. It’s years later and I still cry looking at the ocean and then I’m in it for a nice swim.
Watching Great Movies with My Mom:
My mom and I have been watching a lot of movies since the lockdown. The movies we watch are some of our favorites. We’re creatures of habit and we gravitate towards the classics, disney movies, and anything involving musicals, drama, history, or fantasy.
Bike riding is one of my most favorite acitivities. I love riding my bike on the suberb streets at night or early in the morning or afternoon on mountain trails. It’s great exercise but also very pacifying. I usually play my music while I ride and it’s so fun.
I pray during all hours of the day. Praying helps me to make better decisions as it gets me to stop and think the situation through.
TAGS I CHOSE: I chose these tags because I felt they post really great and interesting posts and thought they might enjoy this! If not, that’s perfectly fine 🙂 . Also as Pooja mentioned on her blog, anyone who wants to participate may 🙂 . Stay safe everyone and enjoy your week. Keep inspiring. ♡
