Easter

Painstakingly made,
left to learn and linger.
Forgiven and fretting
over his creation forgetting.

Remembering why we are we,
Remembering what is left
when all else is betraying.

Civil liberties,
civilians lying to cover their hearts,
molding them and hardening them to solidify.

Painstakingly made,
we are born to remember.
We swallow water until we can breathe air.
We stay curled up until we can reach out

You commanded us to be and we are
We haven’t forgotten.
We still believe and are grateful for this day

We are lamenting your death
and rejoicing on your risen day.
We remember all you sacrificed
